- Sanctions Oct 19, 2022 · Ukraine imposed NSDC sanctions on Freedom Holding CEO Timur Turlov and on Freedom Finance Ukraine LLC (presidential decree of 2022-10-19, five years: asset blocking, trading restrictions, etc.); on 2022-11-09 Ukraine's NSSMC suspended Freedom Finance Ukraine's securities licences (Forbes Kazakhstan, 2022-12-06). Freedom Holding called the listing erroneous, said the Ukrainian company had no Russian owners or beneficiaries and appealed (statement of 2022-10-21). - Other Aug 15, 2023 · Short seller Hindenburg Research published a report on Freedom Holding Corp. (2023-08-15) alleging, among other things, sanctions evasion and links to Russian clients. The company rejected the allegations; on 2024-01-25 it announced that an external review by Morgan, Lewis & Bockius and Forensic Risk Alliance, commissioned by its independent directors, found no evidence of sanctions evasion and found the allegations not supported by evidence, while noting previously disclosed dealings of some non-US subsidiaries with sanctioned banks and individuals.
